The weight of suicide

So recently, I've been reading some debates over assisted suicide (generally for the infirm) and thinking of all the angst-ridden teens out there who would consider themselves candidates for immediate euthanasia if they had the choice. As someone who has attempted suicide countless times in my life, this is a subject which hits a nerve.

I think I'm finally to a point in my own life where I've decided that suicide right now, personally, is a devastating idea. To my husband, my kids, my parents, etc.

However, I'm not sure I disagree with helping terminally ill people who are in excruciating pain to end their lives. I know I wouldn't want my own mother and father to be in horrible pain if it wasn't 'necessary.'

You definitely have a unique perspective and I can appreciate the logic behind it, but I'm not sure I can agree fully.
