Dr. Who

I have somehow managed [mumbles] years of geek-dom and know absolutely nothing about "the doctor," except that it's an old fandom and its fans are passionate.   Emma saw an episode at school and both my kids are watching it now ( Read more... )

I've only seen a couple episodes (with David Tennant), but a few of my friends are diehards and I've been curious about it for ages. I just put Season 5 (Matt Smith's Doctor) in my Netflix queue. Knight_Aragorn is going to be my Dr. Who mentor. :D

Sweet! We'll be doing pretty much the same thing at the same time. :D

Emma (and a friend who is a mega Who fan) both love David Tennant, but Rachel likes Matt Smith. We're doing the Netflix streaming through the Wii trial and can stream any of them, so it's been a jumble on the TV as my kids vie to watch "their favorite" Doctor. And I think I've seen the epi that makes the change from the 10th Doctor to the 11th one about five times now. They love teh!angsty dramah of it, LOL.

And it (that epi) really is very powerful with this great music at the end...

Do you happen to know if that episode the first of the Matt Smith season, or the last of Tennant's last season?

I liked Tennant in the few episodes I saw, but I've only seen a few clips of one of Smith's episodes and I just loved him. I couldn't even tell you why. He just seems really compelling.

The Tennant/Matt Smith switch over happened in a two-parter called "The End of Time": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_of_Time, but I don't know if it was considered to be a regular season episode or an independent special. I get the impression that it was a special.

I've been watching it for decades. I like Matt's Smith's interpretation.

I like what I've seen so far. And I really like that it's something we can get into as a family. :)

Heheh, Nicki told me she was 'tutoring' Emma. LOL

I can't get into it - I've tried a few times but I fall asleep. LOL

LOL - that sounds like me and most of the shows my hubby likes.

Nicki's 'tutoring' for both of us has been awesome!
