Christmas Day comes to a close, but Christmas is still fresh

You know, it seems to me that this year I've managed to look at Christmas an entirely new way from any previous year. It was a celebration that stretched on for weeks, and Christmas Day was not necessarily its culmination. Except that the 25th od Dec is an arbitary date decided by the catholics in approx 14C to celebrate the christ childs birth, as it was the same date as the winter solstice so they used it as a conversion type tool. (I kid you not..saw a priest on the telly talking about it on Christmas eve in a doco on the history of the Christmas tree). I will now return you to your regularly scheduled program...... ;-)

You could move the date to whenever you want to. That probably would help actually. A completely untouched day to celebrate Christ's birth so that there would be no question why it's celebrated.

Yet another reason I dun wanna be Catholic ;-)

And when I think about it, I'd much rather celebrate Christ's coming to earth than 'Winter Solstice'. He wasn't born on Christmas but he was born.
