Thank you may I have another

If there's one thing I've learned over the past few years, it's that I don't know how to take a compliment. Carson Daly played two MTS songs on his show last week. I thought it was pretty neat for about 15 minutes and it made me feel pretty good for the same amount of time. Then the feeling went away. But this week I'm morbidly depressed. It occurs ( Read more... )

That is pretty neat.

[not that you don't already know the following...] The music biz is simply a game and not something based on merit or any logical sense. The game is amusing at times and annoying at others, but the creative work you do is far more important on a personal level. Keep it fun and do it for yourself. If it turns out you want to share it (without any expectations), that's all the better. I (obviously) enjoy what you do and hope you aren't discouraged by the public and critical nature of releasing your music.

I dunno either.

Yeah I know it's not a meritocracy. I mean I knew that when I was a kid. But then how could it be, really? That's not really the problem. I mean it is but it's not something I focus on any more because it's pointless.

I don't think I can stop making music and most likely I'll continue to release it. I've had more success at this then I ever thought I would to begin with, so I can't complain too much. I mean there are people just as deserving as me who will never even reach the level I have, for whatever that's worth.

Keeping it FUN is essential. I have to remember that. Thanks for the kind words.

Somewhere I read an interview with Peter Quaife. He said that, the morning after "You Really Got Me" went to #1, he was lying in bed with his socks on. And he looked down, and saw that there was a hole in his sock.

And at that moment he realized that being famous wasn't really going to change anything.

I think I may have mentioned that story to you before, maybe over a beer or something. Oh well. It's a good story regardless.

There's a reason I am becoming a hairstylist for a living and letting the musician thing remain a "hobby".

Also, congratulations for having two of your songs played on television! That is pretty awesome. Royalties!

but people should hear your music, even if you're not playing the game, i think. you do hit some sublime melodic moments. according to me and Carson Daly.

So the only things you want are financial stability and a family? Have you considered marrying a rich woman? Done and done. I'll send you my bill.
