hey use the adaware, but get spybot search and destroy and stop using internet explorer and use Mozilla Firefox. rob has most all the links for all that in his lj profile. :) mozilla will give you zero pop ups and you will be a happy camper, promise. -Cass
Please oh please do not get Norton again! It's horrible.
Download an anti-virus called AVG. It's free, but you still get updates and works better and faster than Norton. It's only free because you hvae no options the professional version has. I'll give you a direct download link, just click here, right click and save as to your desktop, then install it. Once you install it, update it (there's usually updates weekly) and then run it, it will take maybe like a half hour to an hour at most.
Also, like everyone else is probably telling you, get Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. Don't get Webroot Spy Sweeper, because not only do you have to pay for it, but it slows down the computer. Install both Spybot and Ad-Aware and then update them, and run them one at a time. If you run them at the same time it'll go so slow, so do them seperately. I recommend you run each at least once a week; the anti-virus can set itself up to run automatically everynight, or you can still run it manually if you suspect a virus or just don't leave
