So, it's now public and official! Starting on 2006-04-12, I will be taking a hiatus from my career as a professional software developer. And life in the lovely Triangle, for that matter. I will instead be living outside of DC, working as a nanny for my adorable niece Lydia and my wilful nephew Martin. Hooray for wootini for offering me this opportunity ( Read more... )

Great news! Now if Sarah and I ever take the time to get up to DC to visit the kips we can visit you too. We are all about efficiency. :-)

Even if you don't have a going away party, we should all (yeah Lewis too) get some dinner and hangout before you leave. And if you need any help packing up or moving just let us know!

Sad that Gustov is being so stubbornly gone. I hope he turns up before you leave, but if he doesn't I'll perodically swing by his domain and see if I can spot him.

It's actually Linus who's on the lam, Gustov is safely snuggled in with Becca, but your offer to swing by still works.

Aww! Linus! Poor little kitty. With Gustov I felt sorry for any living thing that would cross his path, but Linus is Linus. Good ol' crawling completely under Stephen's car seat as he was filling up the car so that if he sat down said little kitty would be squished so he was forced to carefully pull a skittishly scratching kitty from under the seat that he so desperately wanted to stay under during my wrangling two kitties from the OBX to Durham car trip Linus. I'm sure he will turn up.

well congrats to you--this sounds like a lovely break, space to contemplate and figure and consider in...I've nannied professionally many years, then got a grad degree and was expected to do more 'professional' work.

Frankly i miss nannying. I love kids.

Enjoy--and know you will be missed.

I'll miss hanging out with you, but I know you'll have a blast up in DC. It's actually on my list of places to live at some point in my life.

We should go out for a drink before you take off--how's next week look for you?

busy as all get-out, unfortunately. a million things to do and little time in which to do them. i'd love to say hell yeah, but we'll just have to see what my schedule permits.

"there simply isn't a venue at which I could host everyone"

Well... I don't know if I'd say that ;-) Durham does have a convention center. But then, I do favor parties that take on an ambitious scale.

It's a pretty groovy triangle of "life balance": you for deciding on a change, your sis for making it work, and your boss for not cutting you loose during the whole thing. Congrats!

You'll have to blog your nanny diaries now!

I was actually thinking about the his nanny diaries earlier this evening, and that they'd be really fun to read!
