I think I'm gunna get a camera with my graduation money.

DSLR. Something. I want it to take good video and pics! Feel free to give me any advice you have. I don't know much about cameras. $1000 to work with.

I think there still aren't a whole lot of SLRs that shoot video on the market. Nikon's D90 is just about $1000 without any lenses. Canon just released the Rebel T1i which is $799 with no lens or $829 with a 18-55mm zoom.

There may be some others out there, but I wouldn't recommend straying away from the Canon & Nikon brands.

And hey, congratulations on graduating!

As a guy who regularly shoots with a DSLR, I'll say they are the greatest thing camera-wise. I agree with Jeff, definitely look at Canon and Nikon. As a Canon Rebel XTi owner myself, I can say I really like my camera, though mine is pre-video which is a bummer. On that note, consider the Olympus Pen E-P1. It has a lot of similar capabilities (12 MP high resolution sensor, interchangable lenses, manual control, etc.), but it also has HD recording and a live view.

Also, congratulations on graduating! :)
