I'm definitely with you.

Our bodies are a temple, and that's very important for us to keep in mind. So to anyone who says alcohol is bad for your body (and there are probably some statistics out there to help back them up), what about Soda? or Caffeine? When the Bible says our bodies are a temple, is that restricted to the physical, because I think that means taking care of ourselves emotionally, socially, and mentally as well.

As to hurting our witness: I think Romans 14 has definite application here. People believe different things. Do as you believe, and don't condemn others. Also, don't have a glass of wine with an alocholic; that is wrong. That's what the Bible means when it says giving the devil a foothold, or causing your brother to stumble.

So rock on Jeff, and there's my take on it.

Yeah. If I ever drink, i always make sure that I'm in the company of people that are very trusted (aka, my family.). I don't drink outside at any event because some kid from the youth group might see me and say "Hey thats the counselor guy at northport! Hey... he's got a glass of wine in his hand...."

So, I'll never drink publicly. But, thank you for your input :)

my dear jeff! very good point the long time argument of is drinking a sin! no i dont see it as a sin as if you were within your house having a glass of wine with your family, but when it becomes harmful is when your out and people see you with a glass of wine in your hand! when you declare yourself as a born again christian you are automatically put on a pedestal for everyone to see, and people will always be watching what we do, cause the flesh and sin world always wants to trap us and expose "what terrible christians we are" so thats when it becomes harmful, cause the Bible also says do not be a stumbling block for others! and non believers will use that against you if they see you with a small glass of wine or and alcoholic drink even if you never intended to get drunk with it! so i hope this made sense to you and it helps you out at all! see ya pal!

i'm gonna keep it short, i agree with you. drinking alcohol (if your legal) isn't bad, but getting drunk is unreasonable.

I totally agreee with you that it is not a sin. It is however a sin if you are breaking a law. it is legal to drink at religious celebrations but i would encourage you not to drink with your family or anyone else outside of something like a wedding untill you are 21. read the scriptures and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling ( ... )

good points andrew.

To further your emphasis on a minister being held to a higher standard - David shared a scripture with me on 'ministers should not give their lips to wine'. Or something like that. It's in Ephesians.

the only thing left i have to say about it is what andrew said about being 21. yes, its not very likely that you will get caught drinking in your own home but IF you do then youd get charged with an m.i.p.

you know my opinion on it but im really sorry if i put down yours in any way. truely, its your own personal conviction. if God doesnt convict you of it, great! i was going off of.. when i had a SIP of alcohol on the cruise i felt really convicted for it and i read a scripture (cant remember where it was found) saying that if you do feel youve done something wrong then let your brother know and i told you, han, justin, and val. but again im sorry

no this isn't anything about you. I don't take offense to your opinions. Thank you for sharing them, though. When you take both sides of the argument and weigh them together, you can come out with more knowledge about something than you originally had (which was the purpose of this post..cause I really don't know what I'm going to do).

David shared a very good scripture that nailed it on the head yesterday, though. A minister isn't supposed to give his lips to wine.. so there you go.
