So beer debates were last night. That's when a group of Rice profs known for their sense of humour and love of alcohol get absolutely wasted then go on stage and take questions from the audience at one of the on-campus pubs.

There are other possibilities than getting another journal. In addition to the basic friendslock and private (And it's apparantly possible to do a journal that is all friendslocked), you can split off even tighter group sections among your friends (eg, close family and people you know personally only) and do customs locks where only that group can read it. I did that with one post (where the ONLY people who could read it were roughly you, mom, Colin, Brannie, Adam and Brenna). It didn't take significantly longer to deal with than a standard friendslock.

Personally I like "one journal, several layers of locks" better, for your situation, than sun_in_her_hair's decision to completely split off into new journals.
