Halloween Gips

Oh, my mind is so vulnerable to the scholarly, washed up academia that floods my classrooms everyday. I pray I don't turn out permanantly retarded because of that. You see the student turn into the graduate, who then turns into the doctor, and finally becomes the pedantic professor who spends the rest of his/her days trapped behind the walls of the ( Read more... )

But Jeff, knowledge is the gateway to truth.

I don’t think its particularly true that professors are separated from reality. We all have our own struggles which help us define what reality is. But I think its safe to say some are ignorant of a great many things. Which seems to be a paradox of sorts, seeing as how a maxim of education is to abolish ignorance.

Also, dude, never forget about the balance between wisdom and knowledge. It is in this balance, my friend, that you will find the “absolute” that you seek

Carter, out.

p.s. I'm kinda buzzed, so sorry if this doesn't make sense.

McCarter,

This particular post was pretty much directed towards a selected few professors I have had over my short college career. I was just annoyed at how some people get caught up in concepts, philosophies, ideas, and "truths" (not to say it is bad to "know" and gain knowledge). Some people have never lived and dictate how someone should live based on their narrow view of reality which has been, more or less, lived in the halls of a university. I just found it kind of funny. With all of the knowledge they have stored up, they haven't lived it out in any way and think they've got it all "figured out."

So I agree with you. There is a good middle ground to play with wisdom, knowledge, and truth.

Peace, Carter.
