One Week

Exactly one week ago, had I walked by police horses on the street, my reaction would have been a nigh-prepubescent "Horsies!"

Today, it was, "Crap, mounted officers."

It's amazing what can happen in seven days.

a man on a horse as a symbol of rank, power and subjugation over those who must walk on foot.

Yeah, I mean, people have been intentionally evoking this feeling for centuries in situations just like (and obviously much worse than) this, it's just the first time in my life that I've felt a flicker of what it's all about.

I'm less than happy, but the civil unrest has been prolonged but tame. Under the circumstances, things could be worse.
