It seems that this war on terrorism has been a rather rash one; yet, I can understand why some people (or the government as it were) may react this way due to the situation that has arisen after 9/11. However, the Iraq situation is exacerbating an already tarnished view that the world has of the American government as a unilateral nation, which ( Read more... )

hmm. I'm in agreeance in some parts here, I think we don't really know much of anything, as a society regarding what our govt. is REALLY up to, beyond the camera crews. I'm a conspiracy theorist... and I know that way too many people have lost their lives due to this "conflict" - which makes me wonder what the hell is going on over there - really. I mean, supposedly, we are just SUPPOSED to be "re-arranging" things to help the residents, and then move out... so why talk of the draft? what brings on all the fighting? why are they killing us? what, specifically are we doing to fall into situations where people die? Other than just being over there... obviously that's one of the 1st things.

It is very clear that Iraq is heading toward civil war and we are stuck in the middle of it. If America is forced to pull out of Iraq instead of leaving of our own accord, then it will be a terrible blow to our world image, because of our inability to hold up our bravura (although, it would be nice to see bush tuck his tail and run). That is why we need to request assistance and then withdraw, rather than either being forced out, or instituting some sort of draft to make this into a nightmarish conflict. These next few months are very important, I am left hoping that there will be someone else in the white house post haste, so the bleeding can stop. Now if only there was a decent candidate to nominate. Why is our nation so firmly entrenched in the two party system, I think a true third part threat would really force the main parties to reconsider. But, I digress (a lot apparently).
