The (hopefully) Great Jekyll Fic Prompt Meme

Aug 27, 2011 19:44

nevacaruso and I ended up swapping Jekyll prompts for a fic meme, which got me thinking about starting a Jekyll themed fic prompting thread, so here it is. :) After all, why should the Sherlock fandom have all the fun?

Unless anyone has any objections, I figure we can just follow standard prompt meme guidelines:

1. You can post as many prompts as you want, but please post each one separately.

2. You can prompt without filling, and you can fill a prompt without posting one of your own.

3. Anonymous prompts, fills, and comments are allowed, but anonymity is no excuse for incivility.

4. Multiple fills for the same prompt are welcome, the more the merrier.

5. Work of any length is welcome, from haiku to drabble to short story to massive epic. For multi-part fic, just post each successive piece as a reply to the previous part and mark the subject line in a way that lets people know it's a continuation of the story instead of a comment.

6. Work of any rating is welcome. However, if you think the content of your post needs a warning, then please include one in the subject line. Prompts that you think might be especially triggery should also be given a warning.

7. If you don't want to leave your fill directly in the comments for the prompt, feel free to post it to your own journal or an external archive (such as FFN or AO3) and then post the link to it here. Just remember to make sure that any journal entry you link to isn't locked.

8. If a prompt inspires someone to create something other than fic, then fanart and fanvids are also welcome, but if the piece is large enough that it might cause problems for someone with a slow connection, then please consider posting a thumbnail image with a link to the full piece elsewhere.

9. No RPF involving anyone who is still alive, just to avoid potential legal problems. Historical figures like RLS are fair game. This isn't to say that you can't mention real people, just don't use them as characters.

10. Crossover prompts are welcome, but they should include at least one Jekyll character, not just requests for characters from other fandoms to reenact the plotline of Jekyll.

11. And most importantly, have fun. This is all about trying to encourage the creation of more fic in our tiny fandom, but there's no point if we don't enjoy ourselves in the process.

That's pretty much all I can think of as far as getting a prompt meme up and running. This is my first time trying something like this, so hopefully I got it right. If anyone else has suggestions or issues with this, please feel to chime in with your input. I'll leave the first reply to this post as a thread for discussing the meme itself.

Also, be aware that the contents of this thread may or may not become NSFW at some point.

And there we have it, so go prompt and/or write fic!
