Today I played with Pebeo Setacolor soleil dye. It was fun!
The results were not what I was expecting, but I'll let you be the judge about how ugly they are. I definitely learned some things :D Also in that album are some pictures of the nine patch baby quilts I'm working on.

Can I hate you a little bit for the fact that you not only have another room for your sewing stuff but also more space AND a better sewing mashine. *pouts*
Love yur irish chain baby quilts! I wanted to do an irish chain quilt as well - maybe a double irish chain for a good friend for christmas. Will see if I have enough time left. Because I'm still working on two quilts for my parents from *cough* last year *cough*. Oh my... I'm hopeless.
First things first... the baby book. Then we'll see.
I think I asked that already but I can't remember your answer. How do you heft your sandwich? Needles, spray or the conservative way with thread?

Sure. Keep in mind that I am older than you and that has some advantages too.
If you do your own nine patches, the rotary cutter and chain piecing is your friend. It took me a lot less time than I had expected to make over a hundred nine patches. I mean, it's still time :D
Yes, one project at a time! Well, if you can do handwork separately, then it's ok to do piecework. That's how I work things, although it's not always a great solution. I'm going to try to be better about it this year.
Heft? Heft means to lift. You mean make. Or a better word that is not coming to me. On baby quilts, I use nothing. The layers stick together well enough. For big quilts, I use pins. I've got some spray, have used it a little, but am not the biggest fan because it can be very hard to get the layers right without any wrinkles.

Interesting! When I don't fixate the different layers they move too much under the sewing machine. That's why I have to fixate them somehow. I tried different methods but all of them more or less suck. I still have wrinkles here and there. Or maybe I'm just plain bad in fixating. And crawl around on my knees for the fixating I hate, too.

Are you quilting from the middle out? It makes a big difference. I can still get wrinkles on the bigger quilts, but it's usually fine with small quilts. Are you using 100% cotton batting? I find it kind of "sticky".

Also, "Night Promises"? Lovely bit of PWP (although I don't believe there's actually any such thing as no plot)! I really like the easy, established intimacy between the two, which is comfortable and yet still very sexy. That's what a healthy, loving relationship should be, right?
Also congrats to you for getting most of your to dos done!

*sigh* I think part of the problem with the shirts is that I should have thinned the dye more. I had things that were firmly on the fabric. I don't know if it's because I used the translucent dye that the effect is not very strong. I definitely want to play with it more though!

Er, I don't really know how to answer the question, "is it hard". I use small beads and small stitches. I wouldn't say it's skilled labor, but I think there is a knack to it. Not sure if you can tell in this picture, but I didn't quite have the rhythm down when I started the spiral.
This is my fourth project I've beaded. I've done extensive beading on one other project.
I've never taken a class in beading. I've read some excellent books about it though.
Oh, you still interested in encouraging established relationship fics? I was just thinking about it yesterday :D
