Well, that put a wrench in my plans

I picked up DD2 from school and discovered that she felt quite hot.  Took her home, set her up on the couch.  The poor thing has a fever.  I'm wondering if it's a virus or strep.  I'm hoping for virus in some ways.  Anyhow, she seems chipper when she's awake, so I'm not super worried at the moment.  It's been a while since I had a sick kid at home ( Read more... )

Nothing worse than having sickies at home (our first week of school holidays were taken up by colds etc, and then hubbie got the man flu - what fun)
My lot tend to get this virus thing that is just a temperature that lasts 2-3 days - happens when they're run down
Hopefully won't last too long, all they want to do is hang out on the couch in front of the TV

Ugh! That's awful. Much better for them to miss school when they are sick. The man flu. I hate it when dh gets sick. DD2 hasn't had a fever in ages. Like, I want to say four years? The last time I recall her having a fever was around this time of year, actually, and it turned out she had walking pneumonia. *facepalm* It took me forever to figure that out.

I'm ok with her wanting to hang out and be a vegetable. Not ok with her being chipper and talking to me all day and complaining that she is bored.

(No tv in our house to hang out in front of. We do all our watching in front of the computer, which is not amenable to lying down.)

The first week was a total loss, luckily had nothing planned, and it was cold and rainy so it was OK to stay indoors.
Yeah, the computer gets a big work out too - I have to fight for a turn! (monday they are back at school and kinder so I will be by myself and watching Merlin - can't wait!)
They're very big on recording things so they can watch it over and over - Dr Who, Horrible Histories, and some really crappy shows that I would rather they not watch, cause they are so bad. At the moment they are watching an Aussie show called Puberty Blues (based on but not the same as the movie, or the book, if you know it) - its set in the 70's and 80's so I'm digging the soundtrack!

We have three computers and four people, so mostly it's not a problem. We just don't have a cozy place to snuggle up unless someone were to use my laptop and I don't let them use my laptop:D

Aw, so cute. My kids have no idea you can watch things over and over that stream on the internet. They have watched dvds, but they don't seem to care about watching the same stuff over and over.

What is Puberty Blues? I've never heard of it.

Thanks! She's been napping and napping. At least her fever seems to have stabilized. <3

No cycling here since 2006, unless you count the one freak episode at Disney World in June. :P

I hope DD2 feels better soon and doesn't give it to anyone else.

Wow. That's damned inconvenient.

Thanks! Me too. I'm getting suspicious that it is strep. I hope it's not highly communicable because I put chocolate in her mouth and then licked my fingers. *facepalm* Yeah, I should know better. I really should.

Nope. I should have taken her to a quick clinic, but that idea did not occur to me until 15 minutes before the clinic closed and well, they don't take new patients by then. Grrr. We'll see what things look like in the morning.

LOL. I was wondering about that, if anyone would misconstrue what I was getting at.

*hands you some chocolate*

Fever is down, but she is telling me her throat hurts (still). I'm taking her in to the pediatrician in a few hours (first appointment).

No ice cream in the house:( I could make her some tea with honey. She's not really complaining about the sore throat.

Thanks! Her fever is down a bit today, but still there. Still has a sore throat though.

Well, damn. That shoots my theory in the foot, but you haven't really been on LJ much lately.... *holds on to my silly theory*:D
