This weekend was so intense. My parents and I visited UVA and William and Mary, both my first "official" college visits....
We left early, early, early Saturday morning and got to W&M around 9. We were going to go to a Fall Focus Day event (only for seniors and their families), but it didn't start till 10, so we walked around campus and Colonial Williamsburg for a while. Then we got the whole presentation from the dean of admissions, students, etc. I could write in all the details but the main thing is that I felt so comfortable there. I've wanted to go there since I was 5 and I just pray I get in. Right now it's my top choice. We got a tour and saw all the different academic buildings, dorms, etc. It's a gorgeous campus.
We saw UVA today...slightly different. Also a gorgeous campus, but snobbier and a little more hands-off. Whereas W&M kept reiterating that they'll look out for you and ensure your success, UVA was much more, "You need to do this on your own." Both sides have their merits, but UVA just made me a bit less comfortable. Obviously I'd be fine with going to either school, but I'm probably going to get into W&M before UVA, and if I miraculously got into both, I'd probably pick W&M right now.
I still have to visit VA Tech and pick a couple safeties though....ah, the joys of the college process. To sum it up, it was a fun and exciting weekend, but extremely overwhelming and nerve-wracking!
