It should have been one of the happiest moments, hearing that her estranged husband had regained consciousness in the very town he had sworn he was leaving after that stupid argument a few months previous. Yet it seemed as if it had only made things worse. He didn't remember he had a wife. He didn't remember anything. But yet he seemed to remember her.

Do you think of her
When you’re with me
Repeat the memories you made together
Whose face, do you see?
Do you wish I was a bit more like her?
Am I too loud? I play the clown,
To cover up all these doubts.
Initially, she tried to ignore the fact that David had formed such a strong connection with the woman who had read to him whilst he was in his coma, but she couldn't deny that it made her feel sick that she was the one he chose to remember whilst forgetting his wife. She knew that when David moved back into the house, he was making every excuse to leave to avoid being with her. She had tried so hard to making everything perfect for him, but clearly that wasn't enough. She couldn't compete with her.

Now she’s gone
And I’m picking up the pieces,
I watch you cry,
But you don’t see
That I’m the one by your side.
Cause she’s gone,
In her shadow is it me you see?
Cause all that’s left is you and I
And I’m picking up the pieces
She left behind
Kathryn knew that David couldn't stay away from Mary Margaret. She knew that he went to Granny's at the same time each morning just to see her sat reading her book. She saw the way his face lit up when he saw her walking down the street, or even if someone happened to mention her name - it was a reaction that he had never given to her.

As crazy as it sounds, part of her was happy for him; he had finally found comfort in someone for the first time since he had come back to her. It was just a shame that it couldn't be from her.

Perfect heart, she’s flawless
She’s the other woman, shining in
Her splendour,
You were lost,
She couldn't help it. Seeing Mary Margaret stood in the school hallway infuriated her. She wasn't interested in any excuses. This is the woman who had taken her husband away from her. Yet as Kathryn looked at the woman before her, she couldn't help but think that she and David somehow 'belonged'. Such a conflict of emotion only further infuriated her and before she knew what had happened, she had slapped Mary Margaret and was heading towards the exit, not knowing what to think or feel.

Are we liars in denial?
Are we smoke without the fire?
Tell me please, is this worth it
I deserve it
Lying in a hospital bed, Kathryn reflected on her relationship with David. She knew that she had loved him, but she also knew that something was missing. Although he had a strong connection with another woman, she couldn't help but feel that she was missing something or someone out of her life as well. She knew that her heart belonged to another too.

Glancing up she noticed that the ward was empty. She had heard that Henry had been rushed to hospital and used the opportunity to throw on some clothes and headed outside. She didn't get far before something tipped her off balance. She braced herself for the fall; but it never came. As she turned round memories began flooding back to her.

“Frederick” she whispered.

“I'm here Abigail” came the reply.

Finally, everything now made sense. The pieces had been put back together.
