Pulled in too many directions right now, too many things to figure out. Hopefully offering useful support in the healing and peacemaking between friends who are long overdue to resolve hostilities which loom much larger than they should, in both friend's lives. Psychology actually is a science, with actual reproducible experiments (where allowable by ethical considerations) and studies (where experiments would be problematic). It isn't math-y like physics is though there can be a lot of statistics depending on where you go with it. I'm not going to comment on whether it is pretentious or cliched. :) I think the problem is that a lot of stuff gets presented as/associated with psychology even though it has nothing to do with it. For example, while Freud and Jung are interesting to read and English-majors love them, they have nothing to do with modern psychology. (I think Freud got a footnote in my Psych 101 class and Jung got nothing at all ever).

I'm happy for you to hear how things are going with Hippy Poet though. He sounds awesome.

Labels are over-rated. Enjoy being accepted. That's exactly what you deserve. And why worry what it will turn into when you could just enjoy the bliss that is now.

I can see you being pulled by the human nature side of Psychology. And I think it can maybe be pretentious depending on the person. But I think that every profession maybe has a few pretentious jerks in it. You are easy to talk to and very understanding. Two qualities that would make a very good Councilor or Psychologist or Therapist. For that matter you'd also make a very good teacher.

As a matter of fact, whatever you do choose, first of all be happy doing it or try something else, and second you WILL be good at because you are talented whether you will admit to that or not. Let it be dear sister. And enjoy! HUGS
