Why I will not buy an iPhone

The other day, I was sleeping when my dad burst into my room asking me to help him.  Apparently, he had slipped and fallen into the fishpond.  His iPhone was in his pocket and while it was completely dead, it had short-circuited so the flash was on and it was starting to heat up ( Read more... )

Apple seems to want its consumers to have no choice but be dependent on its support. It's annoying, I agree. But I like using Macs enough so I put up with it. (Not so for phones though. Blackberry ftw!)

A very rational comment Germaine!  You know what is more annoying than Apple?  Apple fanboys.  One of my best friends is a rabid Apple fanboy (to the point where Apple can only do good and can do no wrong, and no other alternative can be as good as Apple) and it's really quite annoying!

Yup, no screwing around with Apple phones. Frankly, it's a much-needed feature to protect most users from themselves. But then again, if you are a slightly more sophisticated user, there is so much more you can do with a bit of customisation/digging under the hood.

I can see why they don't want people screwing around with the inside (and the need to protect people from themselves), but in this case I cannot accept it because it is actually a safety issue!
