Asian language anger

I really regret not starting to learn Japanese earlier.  And no, it's not out of any desire to watch anime without subtitles, nor wield samurai swords on gay-trash annihilation rampages, nor communicate with nerdy hot topic girls, but just because...  it's really at the center of everything Asian ( Read more... )

Aw. Didn't mean to be part of the alienating force in the capstone class. *guilty Japanese-language major* >.>

And it's funny you've heard that Japanese is the hardest language. I've always thought that Chinese in any dialect seems harder than Japanese. (Tone makes me a wee bit anxious, I admit.)

Anyway, the Japanese writing system isn't too bad. Sure, it's a hard to keep track of all the different kanji readings, but I can't imagine it's too different from Chinese. (Or maybe that's just me being wishful?)

And hey, it's never too late to start learning a language. Korean and Japanese tend to be pretty similar, besides.

I still get frustrated with not being able to fluently read Japanese, though. >.

I know what you mean, but for me it's the opposite. I regret not taking Chinese. Of course, I'm in my 2nd/3rd year (depending on who you ask) and it hasn't actually come up.

But my professor is a sinologist and everything is given with sort of a Chinese-language twist, if you will. I guess. I don't know, I'm tired. But yeah, damn Japan for hogging the Asian export market. Fucking Japanese. The writing isn't even that hard, especially since you already know Chinese, it's just the weird-ass grammar.

PS Speak Korean to me sometime.

actually Japanese is not hard at all. The rules in writing and speaking are very specific and don't change on a whim like English.
