When Jemma asked to see Drew perform, she hadn't known what to expect. She had seen him strumming a guitar when they were younger, always watching him as he hummed along with whatever tune he was playing but she'd never seen him on a stage before. The lights were bright, the crowd was eager and the girls was practically throwing themselves at him ( Read more... )

Drew had never actually invited anyone he knew to come to one of his shows, finding he felt much more comfortable and natural when he was in a room full of strangers (or vaguely familiar fans). When he got up on stage with the rest of the guys he saw Jemma's smiling face right away, the heat rising up in the back of his neck.

But the moment the beat kicked up that all fell away. Drew was completely lost in each and every song, actually found himself looking to Jemma as he sang.

It was exhilarating.

The set ended quickly, or at least that's the way it always felt. After they packed up their things, clearing the stage for the next group, he set out into the wide crowd in search of Jemma. It took a while longer than he wanted it too, getting pulled aside by groups of girls gushing over their latest song or pulling him in for a picture.

Finally he saw her, their eyes meeting in a very cliche way across the bar, and he smiled.

She didn't expect the tingle that hit her skin when she caught his eye, the grin plastered across her face stinging her cheeks. She adjusted the strap of her purse on her shoulder and made her way toward him.

He was talented- good and incredibly sexy when he was up on that stage, the way his arms moved across his guitar exciting her in ways she'd never admit aloud.

"Well, aren't you quite the rock star-" she mused, her voice a little louder as she reached him in the middle of the room.

Maybe it was the excitement of the night, still buzzing from the adrenaline from his set. Or it could have been just how gorgeous she looked, still so put together against the sea of t-shirts and ripped jeans. Whatever it was, Drew was feeling bold.

The moment he reached her, he pulled her in, one hand on the small of her back and the other in her hair, and he kissed her.

"Did you like the set?" he asked, pulling back but just barely.

It was a night of surprises, it seemed, as Jemma found herself falling against his kiss. Just the press of his hand against her back, the other tangling in her hand- it was all enough to make her melt just a little bit on the spot. Add in the sheer tingle that raced through her as his lips pressed against hers and she was all but a goner.

She pressed her lips together, trying to prevent herself from grinning like the giddy idiot she felt like, nodding her head.

"I did-" she said, pressing her hands flat against his chest. "I can't believe you were holding out on me, Kirke. You're really good-"
