I really thought I threw my diet completely off today, but after I total all my points I find out that I did ok after all. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. I had some tofu with veggies at lunch today, then for dinner had a really good chicken breast cooked in lemon and wine sauce. The italian place was so nice, they cooked it ( Read more... )

Tofu generally takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with. It has very little flavor on it's own. If you are going to make a stir fry, I would suggest the following...I'm not sure how many veggies you actually like and will eat...so omit what you won't eat ( ... )

Thank you! I wish I got this earlier. I had a recipe for stir fry so I pulled out the tofu and did the paper towel thing--except I PRESSED the plate down on the tofu and the tofu squished all over the counter top. I got upset. It pretty much crumbled. ((at least I got the mater out ^_-)) so i tossed it out and made Kielbasa. I get paid Friday so i will pick up MORE tofu and try it again. at the store I bought the tofu to begin with they actually have chinese seasoned tofu. maybe i will buy that. i have a frozen chocolate mousse recipe that involves tofu. ((It is like the only dessert that has very very little carbs)) i can type it out for you if you would like. I also have most of the nutrition facts for it so you can figure out the points. just let me know. thank you again for the lesson! ^_^ Keep in touch.

Yeah you need the weight of something to do the pressing, and it's not a quick process...I can't tell you how many times I have done that same thing. I would love to have your frozen choc mousse recipe...there are actually a lot of desserts made with tofu, you might be surprised. It can have a texture like ricotta and I have seen it used in cheesecake and stuff.

Anyway, good luck next time you try the tofu thing. You might really like the flavored tofu, just watch out if there are added calories and stuff.

Another tofu suggestion, I buy the little ones the cardboard like boxes. They don't need refrigerated and have a long shelf life...then your tofu doesn't go bad in the refrigerator before you eat it.
