sometimes i find myself in the mentality of, "why? how could something that horrible happen to someone?" when I think of situations similar in degree to the one you describe.

but, really, as christians, we should be thinking, "why doesn't this happen to some of us?" we are really all deserving of horrific outcomes, far worse than what most of us get for our deals in life.

we deserve to not have a face. but God gives us one anyway.
