Marilyn's online column [now basically week-long] has been going over the pros and cons of year-round school. The biggest cons seem to be from people who've never tried it, insisting that extending the problems of the agrarian calendar to a year-round calendar would just make them worse, when a lot of that seems to be a fault of the education ( Read more... )

That's why I thought that they should have a rotation where they have electives during the summer that aren't during the rest of the year. Summer Session would be a wonderful time to have it.

I don't think that's so good. Electives [which are mostly high school/college anyway] should be mixed in with core classes, instead of potentially spending fall + winter on core only and falling behind on those, then needing summer school to catch up anyway ( ... )

The exercise is the same as if the first man sold the bicycle for $17. However, you still don't know how much profit he made without knowing what he paid for the bicycle in the first place!
