I won another monthly STEM puzzle at work! Maybe I should mention that before I forget to save the draft again =p

[[Thinking on those reviews I wrote, perhaps I'm too verbose in my ranting. Bulleted points might work better, likeThis book appeals to me because
  1. it convincingly describes the plight of the poor [always touches a chord with me, coming from poor upbringings],
  2. it describes the obliviousness of the "out-of-touch" privileged who feel that the poor should be PROUD to have their lives treated like the playtoys of the 1%, and
  3. it covers realistic [though, I admit, I'm not quite certain of authentic] survival skills that level the playing field, as it were, in class warfare--Katniss wins because she has a greater desperation to survive than those from the upper districts who treat life-or-death as just another silly game.
This book repulses me because
  1. it glazes over the seriousness of the consequences of having a government in power that SANCTIONS MAKING ITS CITIZENS KILL EACH OTHER [though by the time the book is established, the country has been repressed to a point of general complacency that it's unfathomable it could ever have gotten to that ( ... )

Ah, hell. I'll throw up the review anyway. Still feeling a little miffed at it for some reason and need a virtual punching bag.
