- it convincingly describes the plight of the poor [always touches a chord with me, coming from poor upbringings],
- it describes the obliviousness of the "out-of-touch" privileged who feel that the poor should be PROUD to have their lives treated like the playtoys of the 1%, and
- it covers realistic [though, I admit, I'm not quite certain of authentic] survival skills that level the playing field, as it were, in class warfare--Katniss wins because she has a greater desperation to survive than those from the upper districts who treat life-or-death as just another silly game.
