recipe: Shepherd's Pie for the Single Mom

I tried looking for an easy shepherd's pie recipe this afternoon, and all the "easy", "fast", "done in 30 minutes!" recipes included things like boiling potatoes and chopping veggies and making rue. I'm functionally a single mom. Ain't nobody got time for that.

So here's my (work in progress) recipe for Shepherd's Pie.

Sounds tasty and quick - and we used to call it 'speed scratch' cooking, when you use canned and frozen goods to add to the basic meat. No need to boil the veggies, puree the veggies when it's all right there in the can. Many times I rinse off the 'pack' which is usually salty brine, and, except for canned whole potatoes which taste nasty no matter what you do, the veggies are fine.

The frozen potatoes you put in the microwave, bag and all, then mash work great for this application, too.
