About Me
A brief autobiography.
Well, first things first. My name is Jen and I'm [clearly] a girl. I have parents and a younger sister. I was born in the state of Louisiana, but I have spent the majority of my life in New Hampshire. Despite this, I hate snow with a passion. I don't ski, snow board, ice skate or go sledding. I do not make snow men, or snow angels, and I hate winter clothing. I do, however, adore school cancellations and think that it can be very pretty just after a snowfall, but give it a few hours and then everything's just brown again.
/Tangent.
I am very religious, although it's not something I talk about often. I am technically Catholic but I tend to believe what I think God wants me to believe, and not what whoever is currently in charge of the church wants me to believe. There, now that that's said, you probably won't ever hear anything about it ever again, unless you're one of my close friends who I discuss this stuff with anyway.
Lets see...I've moved around a lot in my seventeen [eighteen on June 17th!!] years, for various reasons. After my parents moved me to NH when I was three, we moved again after their divorce when I was eleven or so. I lived with my mother, who then moved us to Indiana when I was twelve. We moved back to New Hampshire when I was thirteen, and I then moved in with my father. He got married when I was fifteen and we moved to another town so that there would be a bigger house for us and my two step siblings. After a year there I decided to move back in with my mother, who had gotten married while I was with my father and was in yet another new house. This is the house I currently reside in, where I am currently writing this entry.
I attend a Catholic school, and adore it. It's not the kind of school that pushes it's views or values on it's students, which most people don't believe when I tell them, but oh well. I am very involved in the music and drama departments there, as they are my favourite things in the entire world. I've been acting since my freshman year, singing since last summer, and playing piano since earlier this year. Piano is the love of my life, I enjoy playing more than I enjoy anything else in the world. As for theatre; I have been in various musicals and plays, I have myself directed a show, and this year I reached the pinnacle of my career. For the Spring musical our school did Beauty and the Beast, and I was cast in the role of Mrs. Potts, which turned out to be one of the greatest events of my life.
I happen have a sweet tooth the size of Texas, so I run to try to stay healthy. I only do this because I have no willpower to speak of, and to make myself feel better about not being able to stop myself from eating whatever I want, I run. Not a lot, and not every day, but it's gotten to the point where it makes me feel really good. Anyway, I like to brag about that a bit more than I ought to.
I love fantasy. I tend to live in a fantasy world, which some people think makes me childish. I love fandom. I've been addicted to Harry Potter for a good six years now, but I also love anything written by Tamora Pierce, or Elizabeth Kerner. I am also a HUGE Star Wars and Labyrinth fan. Those are included in my favourite movies, along with Garden State and Empire Records.
I love musicals. They are like my LIFE. My favourite musical of all time is, without a doubt, Phantom of the Opera. I also love Wicked, RENT, The Last Five Years, Light in the Piazza, Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods and the Sound of Music.
My favourite painter is Vermeer. My favourite musicians include Evanescence, Interpol, Eisley and David Bowie. My favourite author is probably either J.K. Rowling or C. S. Lewis, not exactly classic literature novelists but I love them anyway. I am also a big fan of James Joyce. My favourite poet is Edna St. Vincent Millay, although I am also fond of William Butler Yeats's early work, as well as some Emily Dickenson and Robert Frost. My favourite flower is, so originally, the rose. My favourite is the Kiss of Desire, but I love all roses. I also love daisies and pansies.
Next year I am going to college in Washington DC to major in...well, at the moment I'm registered for Art History. I had intended to switch to Political Science, and now I have no idea...I don't know what I want to do with my life yet, and right now I'm not particularly sure where I'm going to be after I graduate.
As for how I look...Well, I have brown hair that's naturally a mess but I generally tame it down. You can't tell unless I have my hair up, but I have these incredibly awesome blond streaks in the back. See below. I have dark blue/gray eyes, and am pretty average in height and weight. I have a cool birthmark on my left arm and three freckles in the shape of a triangle on my cheek. I wear glasses all the time because I'm practically blind and hate wearing contacts. I never wear them. I love to draw stars in the corners of my eyes, although sometimes I do flowers as well, with my eyeliner. I can't count the number of time people have asked me if it's a tattoo.
So I guess that's pretty much what there is to know about me. I keep this journal fairly regularly as a means of discussing my boring life. I don't hold back in here, I talk about everything, but none of it's really all that interesting. If you want to friend me, go ahead and do so. Otherwise, I'm impressed that you got this far. ;)
