WATCHING:
Aku no Hana
Different character animation style. Looks like they're trying for a more realistic look? It almost looks like they could have recorded live people moving and just traced the basic shape and filled in with paint. XD In contrast, the background setting is SO detailed. The slow, airy music at the start definitely contrasted with the sudden upbeat OP music. But the lyrics of the OP are not as upbeat.. I wonder if the choice in how they animated the characters is supposed to have some deeper meaning? Feels pretty realistic in terms of what goes on in the classroom (EX. returning the tests by having students come up, teachers commenting). I actually don't really have a problem with the animation style. I think it may actually fit more with the tone of the series.
Chihayafuru S2
Continuing right where the last season left off. Catching up to the manga.
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
Before the OP began, my first impression of the MC and Daichi during the first 1:20 kind of shattered my image of the MC from the game. Thankfully after the OP, everything was a lot better. XD; I heard from others that it's likely that it's running on New Game+ mode, because there is no way that the MC could summon such a high-level demon (Avatar Byakko) just like that. And no way he could have that much Macca (currency) at the start or have all the apps available right away. Daichi's voice actor (Okamoto) seems fitting, voice to personality-wise. I wasn't quite sure about Kamiya as the MC, but it slowly seemed to fit better. Sawashiro as Makoto was exactly as I imagined it! XDb I can't wait to see how the other characters will be voiced/portrayed, especially Jungo, Akie, and Fumi. The ED is done very nicely as well. It had a Durarara!! feeling to it.
Hataraku Maou-sama!
Originally, I wasn't planning on watching this one. But I gave it a go, and it's surprisingly funny and interesting. I love how Maou is so happy about getting raises, and how Ashiya gets on his case.
Hunter X Hunter
Kind of sad that the Greed Island arc ended, I liked the ending song "Reason" by Yuzu along with the animation that went with it. I haven't read the manga, but isn't the manga in the current arc that the anime is entering?
Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai 2
Originally, I was feeling that I kind of want to continue watching this, at the same time I don't, but then decided that I probably will... Maybe a lot of people will do this, too, but when there's at least two shows based on light novels this season (the other being Hamachi/OregaIru), I find that this one has that something that the other one was missing. At least Kyosuke's getting a bit more focus, it seems.
Red Data Girl
This is a bit of mysterious show, but the visuals are stunning. Development's a little slow, but I hope it has a good end.
Shingeki no Kyojin
Different line thickness is interesting. I love how the bullies are more afraid of Mikasa than they are of Eren. The set-up feels kind of formulaic though, something life-changing has to happen for the story to get going. How does blood drift through the air like that...? I'm creeped out by the design of the giants, how their mouths are perpetually smiling.
This one turned out to be one of the more riveting series this season. I actually went to read the manga, and it's pretty intense. Been bouncing theories back and forth with @ohailumi quite a bit. Who knew this would be the series to get me thinking? XD
Suisei no Gargantia
"You will be granted the right to sleep, eat, and reproduce freely." WHAT? All the technical stuff went over my head at the beginning, way to overload. But it was pretty funny to see how both sides reacted with the language barrier. Everyone's noting that this is an Urobochi title, so... waiting for the twist?
Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 2000%
My initial impression is that the "big" song for the second season is not as impactful as "Maji Love 1000%." Maybe that's why they had to resort to using larger body movements? They also used so much super-deform, it just felt... flat? After the first season, I was willing to try out one version of the game (Sweet Serenade), but didn't even finish that (left one teacher route undone, Hyuga-sensei's). The most I would continue watching this show is for Syo and Ringo-sensei (the only routes I liked in the game). Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to be facepalming a lot as I watch...
TOTAL: 10 shows
NO GO's:
Karneval
Barely saw mention of this, so I kind of forgot about it. Decided not to watch it.
Photo Kano
is this gonna be like amigami with a camera? Well, a bit different. The shashin-bu and the photo-bu. I like how they play with the facial angles. But alas, a show for the guys, so many leg, chest, and butt shots. The glasses guy in the shashin-bu... /facepalm. I don't think I'm much in the mood for harem this season, so I dropped this.
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
Gave this one a try, but it felt a little dry. Maybe the main guy being so overly cynical didn't really grab my attention, I'm not sure. Dropped this one.
