I fell behind on this, but finally wrote something up. =P
Fall 2013
Diabolik Lovers
I originally said I was dropping this one, but actually ended up watching the entire thing. I was hoping for some kind of redeeming event or something, but it never came.
Galilei Donna
This show had promise, but lost its sparkle to me about halfway through. The plot twists towards the end were cute, but not enough to make the show finish strong. All the goldfish stuff was cute though.
Kyoukai no Kanata
As a KyoAni show, I think it could have been stronger, but there were a lot of unanswered things. Also that one ep with the dancing, not really sure about that ep. I don't find it as strong compared to Hyouka or Free! even.
Kyousougiga
This was one where you just had to watch the whole thing before it makes any sense, lol.
Walkure Romanze
Harem anime and jousting. Yes, jousting. It wasn't too bad, haha.
Winter 2014
Engaged to the Unidentified (Mikakunin de Shinkoukei)
I watched the first part the OP every ep for Kobeni's bouncing chest... Whoever animated that to the music did a really good job. XD The show was funny or strange at time, but cute at the same time.
Gin no saji S2
Sad this one ended so soon. I liked the ending song with the ending animation. I guess I'll have to try to continue with the manga for this one.
Hamatora
Had slight Psycho-Pass vibes for me, what with the main antagonist. Since it ended with a TBC, hoping there'll be a next season soon.
Hozuki no Reitetsu
Considering that it's a dark comedy, it started off pretty funny to me, but it kind of plateaued after a while. I heard that it was the mangaka's view of society?, and you could definitely see the rant.
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha
The animation was very nice as was the build-up of the plot, but I was kind of disappointed at ending. But I guess it also made it's point about making things happen on your own not with supernatural help.
Noragami
The animation style of the characters looked very nice for this one. Feels like it probably could have run longer, but I guess that's what the manga's for, right? Considering that it's called Noragami, they didn't really get much to her, as it seems like the series was focused more on the relationship development between Yato, Yukine, and Hiyori.
No-rin (Nourin)
I started watching this because it was set in Gifu, but almost dropped it because it had so much gag in. There were a lot of parodies, some of which I was able to pick up, others I didn't. But it slowly added a little more seriousness towards the end, and talked about ways of life in the city versus the farm and stuff like that. Not too bad.
Sakura Trick
Lots of girl-kissing. Pretty much through the whole series.
The Pilot's Love Song
Got slight Last Exile vibes but that was probably because of the flying planes. It got pretty intense towards the middle of the series, and since I had eps queued up, I was sitting ep after ep with tensed arms. For all it's seriousness, I loved the next preview segments where they had the other guy make quips about the main character, only be cut off by the title card of the next ep. That was a very good way to put a humorous breather between eps.
Witch Craft Works
Lots of cute familiars, like teddy bears and armored bunnies... Feels like there was a lot of unexplained things, but considering how most of the show was a lot of color and I don't know what else, I think it's okay, lol.
Wizard Barristers
This one had promise, but kind of fell short. It felt like they could have done more about world building since the setting was 2018, not that far in the future. The parts I liked the best were the parts where Cecil was bonding with Shizumu and Nacchi.
Fall 2013/Winter 2014
Kill la Kill
I originally dropped this, but then picked it up again. Pacing is good, but it's definitely one of those shows where you can mindlessly watch it because it pretty much tells you everything, eventually.
Kuroko no Basuke S2
This was another show that I can watch mindlessly, but I find of higher quality than KLK, lol. Like any other sports anime, it could take many episodes just to get through one game.
Log Horizon
Unexpectedly, one of my favorites for the past two seasons. At first it seemed like the premise was on par with Sword Art Online, but rather than focusing on the action and trying to figure out how to get out, it was more about figuring out how to live in the game world for the time being. I like that the approach was more from an intellectual and strategical view.
Magi S2
While there's a lot of politics going on, it's not so heavy that it's overwhelming. I still love the main trio, but it feels like Hakuryuu got left out a lot. I imagine that's what's to come next (which would have to be found in the manga). I'm glad about Titus though.
Dropped
Golden Time
It got too heavy for me. And by the time Banri and Koko started dating, I was kind of overwhelmed by their high tension.
Samurai Flamenco
It didn't appeal to me after a couple eps. Apparently, I stopped watching before it really got crazy.
Queued
Nagi no Asukara
Not sure why I ended up putting this one on the backburner, but I hear that I'm in for some turns.
Phi Brain S2, S3
Gonna have a lot to catch up on here.
Pokemon XY
I haven't been keeping up with all the seasons of Pokemon but considering that I finished the game, I figured I'd be able to follow the XY season. I queued it up until I had finished the game so I wouldn't be spoiled, lol.
Ongoing
Hunter X Hunter
So many different parties to follow around, it seems like this arc is taking a long time, even though it's only been about 50 eps since the arc started.
Nisekoi
I'm still kind of sad that the more cliche it is, the more popular this series seems. But hopefully with more people liking this series, the mangaka will be able to make more manga after this series. (Wishful thinking about Double Arts.)
Pupa
Considering that I was kind of looking forward to this, it seems very disjointed. But since each ep is only a couple minutes long, I'll continue watching it with hopes it'll make more sense later.
Yowamushi Pedal
Most sports anime are mindless for me, and this is no exception. I'm sure this makes cycling more appealing to people though. XD
