Spring 2014 Anime Watchlist: Thoughts

Jul 11, 2014 18:22

Top picks for the season:
Selector Infected WIXOSS
Sidonia no Kishi
Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii
Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou

Selector Infected WIXOSS
Unexpectedly interesting despite the premise being about a card game. If you liked MadoMagi, you'd probably like this one. This is getting a second season, so I'm looking forward to that.

Akuma no Riddle
At first I thought this was interesting, but then as each episode went into the backgrounds of each assassin, I started getting bored with it. I guess it ended up being so-so for me?

Mushishi S2
Pretty strong like the first season.

Atelier Escha & Logy - Alchemists of the Dusk Sky (Atelier Escha & Logy ~Tasogare no Sora no Renkinjutsushi~)
Really did play out like an RPG. XD

Sidonia no Kishi
The most unique show of the season because it was completely in 3D CGI. A lot of death, but the slow revealing of the past and how things came to be was interesting to find out. This one is also getting a second season, so looking forward to that.

Nisekoi
Not much of an ending, but then again, the manga is still ongoing. Didn't really expect it to go anywhere.

Kamigami no Asobi ~Ludere deorum~
Watched it all. I don't think I'm cut out for watching or playing otoges...

La Corda d'Oro Blue Sky
This didn't have as much magical feeling as Primo Pass. I didn't even expect the main guy focus to be who it turned out to be. LOL. The cameos were nice though.

Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii
This one has a lot of strong older style shoujo elements which made it an overall strong series.

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou
I loved the coloring for this one and how it was animated when serious (comedy took a different turn lol). Reminded me of Shinkai's style. Good blend of seriousness and comedy.

Yowamushi Pedal
Sports anime. Enough said.

Brynhildr in the Darkness (Gokukoku no Brynhildr)
With the exception of censored melting bodies, this wasn't too bad. Doesn't feel like the series quite came to a conclusion, though.

One Week Friends (Isshukan Friends)
This was cute in the beginning, but got a bit darker, and then lightened up towards the end again.

Black Bullet
You've got your little girl fighters that are part-monster. Hosoya and Kaji reunited mid-way through. XD;

Hitsugi no Chaika
I think I'd like the premise of this show because rather than having the heroes, this deals with the aftermath. This one's also got a second season, which should be interesting as more things come to light.

Break Blade (2014)
Not sure why I watched this one. I watched this along with a bunch of other war shows, and it was just really depressing. Especially when there are friends on both sides, or they don't understand each other. The Cleo and Sigyn parts were really sweet, though.

Queued

Nagi no Asukara
Yup, still queued.

Phi Brain S2, S3
Yup, these are also still queued.

Pokemon XY
Got through some of the queue, but it still continues, thus the queue just continues queuing up.

Ongoing

Hunter X Hunter
Chimera Ant arc is finally over! Uchiyama did very well with Mereum.

M3 ~Sono Kuroki Tetsu~
Dark, kind of reminds me of Bokurano in a sense.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
Doesn't feel like they're going into Tatsuya's background at all lately, so it doesn't feel like there's been much character development.

Captain Earth
Still watching this one...

Haikyuu!!
Another sports anime. No other comments, lol.
