So... I'm moving in 2 weeks & 4 days. Well, that's the official moving date. The Pro Cleaning service is going through the Condo on 5/18, and once they're done I can start moving my stuff in.
Glipoth is 100% correct if you can round up a posse.
If you can't round up a posse, movers are fantastic. I had 95 or so boxes to move out of my 1-bedroom postage stamp apartment, plus furniture. It made things so much easier.
Also: rather than labeling each box with its contents, I put a large numbered sticker on each end of the box, and kept a master index by box number. That worked well. Colored stickers for room would augment that system nicely. (I still have the index... and some non-unpacked boxes.)
I really need a nick without a Q in it so people stop turning it into a G.
I've never done the colored labels, but I have written the intended room on the box, which seems to work better than listing contents.
I've also often wondered if I should just throw out the boxes that I haven't opened 2 years later without opening them. Of course, I will not do so... that's MY STUFF!!!! Forget that I haven't needed or wanted it for 2 years!
