Cake Countdown - Decorating Experiments

So I did an experiment this evening...I wanted to try rolling the fondant and covering something with it. So I got out the smaller version of the same cake pan, tinted the fondant to look marble-like and went for it. Then I painted some veins with a couple of different metallic powders mixed with vodka. And here's what it looks like:

Wilton makes paste dyes that are vibrant--have you tried their blue?

I have mostly Wilton colors, but even the royal blue isn't dark enough. Ateco makes a navy blue, so I'm going to go to Home Cake Decorating on Roosevelt to see if they have it. If they don't, I'll revise my plans and go with as bold a royal blue as I can.

Oo! So pretty! But not, of course, too pretty to eat. I know how yummy that Guinness cake will be. I"m so looking forward to the wedding! Now if only I could figure out what to wear. Something with lots of eating room, methinks. ;)
