*hugs* Been there, done that on the weird feeling. Aaron got remarried 3 years ago, and it was a little strange. Mostly how fast it came about -- he was married less than 2 1/2 years after our divorce was final. But he's happy (I guess....we don't talk much anymore....not that he was one to make a lot of phone calls in the first place), so yay for him.
That's tough. I think no matter how much both of you have moved on, things like that are always going to echo oddly deep inside, at least for a while. Hang in there.
You know, Teeny, I think N is definitely a wise woman, like JM said. Your offer, which was completely heartfelt and probably somewhat spontaneous (knowing you), was sweet; however, you hit the nail on the head about the potential awkwardness of the situation.
Also, I would think that some of what you are feeling is the recognition of a door that is not only closed, but now shredded (points for recognition of the Monsters, Inc. reference). Although you have no desire to go back to that place in your life, it's a difficult thing to realize that the door no longer exists. It doesn't change anything at all...it's simply an acknowledgement of the finis of that chapter and the realization that there is no more editing to do.

I love you, sweetie....
