FYI, the AAP is split about when to start solid foods. The council on nutrition does say 4 months, but the council on breastfeeding (and many other US and international organizations) strongly recommend exclusive breastfeeding through 6 months.
Also, I still call ELNH "the baby" after 2 years. :)
Yeah, the pediatrician said basically we could start if we wanted to, but no rush. I'm going to let it simmer. I have no idea how I'm going to incorporate spoon-feeding into the daily schedule. I forgot how time-consuming it was.
I think it really depends on the kid, too. Both Mac and Robbie had multiple teeth by 4 months and were reaching out and grabbing quite solid food (like french fries) on their own, so sticking exclusively to breastmilk felt like a fairly arbitrary struggle to have. With Robbie's case we basically didn't even do purees, because he had 8 teeth by six months and was uninterested in mush. But that's their totally weird teeth precociousness ( Mac's clearly about to lose his first baby tooth any month now), and the sort of place where the generalizing recommendations aren't as applicable.
Dude, Maleficent totally kicks the ass of the Evil Witch. Though the heart in a box is pretty creepy. :)
Yay for pretend play! It's pretty clear that Robbie's pretend play (though apparently he does more of that at school than the other 2 year olds do) at home is largely going to involve being a follower in Mac's stories, at least for now.
Someday you'll find he's dug a hole to Australia, and then where will you be? :)
