There was a mysterious noise in our Mazda ventilation fan. Then the noise went away. Then the smell began. It is a faint smell, only detectable for the first couple of minutes once the car is started, but I'm 99% sure that there is a chopped-up mouse in our fan. Well, I suppose the van was due for routine maintenance soon anyway. *shudder

Mac got very upset today, because he was talking about adopted children, and described them as "children who didn't listen or obey rules so their parents gave them to other parents who would listen to them." And I said, somewhat more sharply than perhaps I should have, that, _no_, that was not how children got adopted, that kids getting adopted had nothing to do with any behavior on the part of the kids, but was a matter of parents who weren't ready to be parents giving kids up to people who were ready to be parents. He grew very angry, because he had clearly constructed this scenario in his head that this was what happened to "kids who didn't listen" (and perhaps was hoping at some small level that R. would "get adopted." It was an awkward argument to have on the steps of R's daycare...
