waking the dead

On Saturday, there was a wake in the honor of the person who killed himself at the Stonewall. It was held at the home of someone who used to bartend at the Stonewall, and remains good friends with current employees and friends that knew him. I was kind of nervous, because I didn't know what to expect. I've been to funerals and memorial services

I agree with you about not understanding it when people oddly avoid situations simply because they're uncomfortable, even though they are important. It really shows a lack of character when they can't manage to put away their personal issues out of respect for others.

good point, i hadn't really figured character into the equation, although it makes perfect sense.
