Well, that was not fun. The second we walked into the exam room, Simon started to scream. Cries of terror, tears, clutching at me - it was loud (and in my ear) and it didn't stop the entire time. To check his ears and belly, we had to lay him down on the exam table (Miles was fine in Seth's lap) and he was holding my hand and crying "Mommy, ( Read more... )

Have you ever tried Vanicream for the excema? That's what we use on Michael and it seems to work pretty well! We get it at Walgreens!

M&M LOVE Peanut butter, I'm sure your guys will too! (We got the go ahead much earlier because they kept crying for their brothers food ;))

I am not your doctor, but I can only tell you what we went through with Zoë's eczema (it was bad). We went to a pediatric determotologist for many months. She said the best thing to do is use the steroid cream for a month. We did it twice a day for 2 weeks, then once a day for 2 weeks, then just lots of lotion. We use cetaphil in a tub (she told me if it can be pumped through a bottle, it is not thick enough). It worked wonders, now Zoë only gets a little flare up once in a great while. She said if you just use topical creams you never really get to the problem which is under the skin. The topical will only clear up the top layer, and it will be a vicious cycle. We did this when she was an infant, I was scared as hell, but it worked.

I bet they will love peanut butter. We have been giving it to Z since she was a year old. My ped, said as long as allergies don't run in the family, go ahead.

Glad to hear they are doing well!

I forgot....... Zoë had constipation her whole life so far. She takes miralax every night, it keep it soft, and consistent. It is not addictive and it won't hurt them. She went to a specialist for this as well. You can buy it over the counter anywhere. We give 1tbsp. in a cup of milk before bed. He said to use it until she is potty trained so she won't fear going to the bathroom.

Thanks again! Our doc also mentioned Miralax. We're going to try the homeopathic suggestions he gave us first to see if they help. Seth is picking them up today. :)

Thanks so much for the info. The reason we don't want to use steroids unless it's necessary is because the eczema is on his face. It's his right cheek mostly, but his left one sometimes, too. Our ped said that the steroids can sometimes affect the skin pigmentation and we don't want to chance that. We use mainly Aquaphor now (from a tub!) and I use the Aveeno Eczema care wash on his face. I'll try the Cetaphil, too. I think we have some samples of it at home.

Not a mommy comment at all, but Matt and I love Penguins of Madagascar and laugh like 2 year olds every time its on....but then again, I'm a big kid anyway, so take that with a grain of salt.....:)

For the eczema, I used the Eucerin stuff I showed you when you were here and it did a great job. I think I used it with the Aveeno stuff too so the combination must have done something....
