Mom update

My mom just called me (left a message at 2:03, actually). Surgery is a go! But not "a-go-go" because that would be weird. Unfortunately, she has to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning! Since the hospital is about an hour from my parents' house, we've got to wake up and start getting ready at 3:00 AM. After a four hour drive. Yeah. Guess who's ( Read more... )

I'll be thinking healthy vibes her way! Hopefully it will be quick and not too painful. At least in the long run she'll be much better off!

I keep telling her "short-term pain, long-term gain." Right now, her biggest pain is waiting- again. It was canceled at the last minute. Turns out they weren't quite so sure about that bladder infection after all.

I hope you find out the full story soon. Not knowing what's going is always the worst part for me.

Well, I hope those healing vibes are set on "kill bacteria." Mom really did have an infection, after all. The surgery's rescheduled for the 26th.

*Is sending good wishes to Mom*

Please remind her, forcefully if need be, to take her pain meds after she comes home. Turns out, they make the pain go bye-bye! Also, pain meds make you constipated so she'll probably need a softener of some kind.

Oh, Mom knows her pain meds. Part of the reason she needs surgery is that she broke her humerus about 18 months ago. It was too high up the bone to cast it, so her treatment was a sling and pain meds. She was on Vicodin for a while. I'm anticipating a return to Vic. Unfortunately, her surgery was canceled at the last minute. I know it happens a lot. It's just so frustrating for her.

Ended up being not so good news after all. They did a blood draw and urine sample just before her surgery and she had a bladder infection, after all. Her surgery is rescheduled for the 26th.
