Delta Dawn of the Dead

Oct 06, 2008 09:56

So, I went to Jacksonville, Florida this past weekend for my friends, Sarah (centaurea) and Adam's (shaka_sulu) wedding. The wedding was beautiful and I had so much fun when I was in Florida. But everything about my trip that didn't take place in Florida was a bit of a nightmare. Therefore, I am separating my posts about the weekend into two different posts, because ( Read more... )

Damn, Jenna, that sounds like a nightmare, similar to the experience that made me boycott American for years. Until my parents forced me to take it home one time.

I've usually had good experiences with Delta, though. And...I believe I'm taking them to Louisville in a couple weeks, so let's hope they've gotten their shit together. Oh, wait, I totally had a crappy time with them in ATLANTA a couple months ago, come to think of it. Man, airlines.

I've flown Delta before with no problems. I suspect that the real problem here is Delta and Atlanta together. You'd think their hub would have better service.

Yeah, this is bad, because my Louisville flight goes through Atlanta. I hope there are no shenanigans.

Ick. That sounds totally unpleasant. I think the Husband had a really bad experience with them two months back trying to get home to see his family. He had to rent a car (along with another person) because they couldn't get him on a flight for over 24 hours (due to their issues- not his or the weather) and refused to give him anything to stay in a hotel (he was on a layover).

I'm glad the actual time spent in Florida was good though. At least there's that.

That is really terrible. I think their customer service really stinks. It's not consistent at all. I was talking to someone at the baggage claim who had a similar delay to mine, but they were able to leave the plane and relax at the gate. And the bride told me a truly horrific story about how she had to go to something like four cities in 50+ hours to get from Boston to Jacksonville. Sometimes I think our conveniences are out to get us.

Yes, it was bad. And then (I forgot this originally) they lost his bags. They were supposed to show up on the later flight (the one that was 24hrs later) and didn't. It was awful.

With all the charges for everything now it's really getting ridiculous.

Ugh, Jenna.
But the Chili's chicken was good! (Who would've thought hanging around an airport gate would still be 'fun time'?)

Oh, it's the people who make it fun time! That was quite a nice little picnic we had on Barry's duffle. Poor Barry. His table, er... bag probably reeked of fried food, and yet he didn't eat any of it.

Oh, and I've already decided that I will be flying Southwest for Mousejunkies 2009. Not only do they have great service, but it's virtually the only airline that currently will allow you to pack golf clubs *and* enough clothes for more than three days. Got to get in those $50 rounds before the DVC golf membership expires!

Oh man there is nothing worse than being trapped on a plane on the tarmack, I'm glad that at least you had a wonderful time while you were in Florida.

Ugh, how awful! I hope your bag has been safely returned to you! Thanks for the reminder not to fly Delta.

I like to fly relatively light as well, with my bags checked safely, but this new "let's make everyone pay for a second checked bag" nonsense is messing that up. Sigh.
