If you haven't been there (or want to go again) I recommend Edwin Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge down by Atlantic City. It has a very nice drive-through birding area. :-)

Drive-thru birding? OK, I'd like a great blue heron, and a egret combo -- that comes with swallows, right?

Sounds cool. NJ in general has great birding. A., who used to know that if she saw a new bird for her life list it meant that she was dreaming, talks about signing up for the "World Series" of birding, held in NJ in warmer weather.

The Blueridge Parkway, and several qualifying sites in 4 states are near here. Mayhap we'd get to see a bit of you when passing through?

DC itself, no surprise, has a gazillion of them. The harder part will be the 25 states.

The way Idrive -- or in this case, ride -- there's:
  • NJ
  • PA
  • NY
  • CT
  • MD

That sounds grand :D

I'm daydreaming about doing a lot of hiking and visiting of historical sites (maybe some stately homes), and getting to hike round the Peak District. I think we're going to be knackered for the first few weeks, until our fitness level improves.
