If anyone happens to see this before, say, 11 PM on Wednesday, and you're an Excel whiz (looking at you here, chapel...), shoot me an email/gmail-talk/IM. I'm trying to put a picture behind a pie chart for class, and it's driving me batshit.

Sorry - missed this until this morning. A chart as a separate worksheet is not an independent object, so the normal command of Grouping (Bring to Front, Send to Back) won't work.

Does the presentation *need* to be in Excel? Usually when presenting charts I make it in excel, then cut the entire thing out and past it using Edit - Paste Special - Enhanced Metafile into Powerpoint. This turns the chart into an object, just like a picture, that you can resize and play around with and layer in front of/behind other objects. (Same concept works in Word just a little trickier). As an added bonus because it's a fixed object at that point some executive can't go in and muck up your chart. =)

Remember - it's the Metafile option under Paste Special in power point - some of the others still allow the user to click through and manipulate the chart or take up a ton of space as it's replicating an excel sheet inside powerpoint.

Hope that helps in time,

Tim C.

ps. I'm mainly on the west coast these days so I'm 3 hours behind, feel free to call my cell if you need help as that's the best way to get ahold of me these days.
