The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
*Loved it! This was a gift from my brother and his GF for Christmas, and I can't believe I waited a week to read it. I can't wait to read the other books in the trilogy.
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender.
*Liked it. I liked the exploration of family dynamic here: and the concept that everyone has something to hide, some more mundane than others. I'm not sure I love the ending: it felt unfinished and the little coda at the end comparing Rose and Joseph's experiences didn't work for me. I though the Mom was really well written, though a terrible character, depending on her son to save her when Joseph was maybe the one who needed saving.
