I voted today. I really, REALLY want to believe that he will be able to do every thing that he says. I hope that I'm just being overly-cynical and that good things can still happen and that our government isn't beyond repair. And I hope that it doesn't turn into something where military bases get closed and my parent's lose their jobs (which almost ( Read more... )

Barney Frank already talked about cutting the defense budget...I think it was yesterday. And I think he said by half. Clinton decimated the military and I'm waiting for Obama to do the same.

I'm glad you voted. :-)

I'm not too thrilled with either of my choices, so I kind of just went with my gut. I was making myself too stressed thinking about it so much.

Besides, I live in Utah and everyone knows how Utah goes. I was trying to focus on my local elections mostly.

My situation is reversed. I live in New Jersey, which always go Democrat. My vote for President really never counts here.

I totally know what you mean, though I voted for Bush the last two times, so I didn't really mind that Utah is that way.

Crap! I wrote you a long response and lost it! Well here, I'll sum it up for you.

Be cynical. I am too.
Be hopeful. I am too.
You're tired. I am too!

I just was reading the emails this morning, and before I got to yours I got the anonymous one, and I was like who is this? They sure are familiar with me considering I don't know them, lol.

And then it was you and it all made sense. Thanks though, I liked your comment a lot. I'm just glad I got it over with. Now I just want to watch and see what happens.

Good for you, voting. I voted early too, although I know exactly which way my state is going to go (and luckily for me, it's going the way I voted). I heard a political scientist speak a couple weeks ago and he noted that when the economy tanks, the party in power never does well - no matter what their policies. So, according to him, the Republicans are kind of screwed, no matter what.
