Remember that Scripture tells us God is slow to anger, not that He never gets angry. Anger is not a sin, it is what you do in anger that is. And it sounds like you did what was right. Don't we often treat God like little NoJo treated you, throwing our own temper tantrums and refusing to let God hold us? Those are the times when He often leaves us to our own pitiful state for a while so that when we finally allow His arms around us we too can whisper, I love you. And I know God never questions His actions in those cases. :)
