Oh, ouch. This was really well done. You really captured the voices of the 09 movie versions of these characters - I could see this happening in that 'verse, and it's terribly sad and angsty and *ooomph*. I hope you write a EMPT happy(ish) follow-on for this someday.

The '09 movieverse did give us a wonderfully human Holmes, not to mention an awesome BAMF!Watson. One of the things I love most about the SH fandom is the ability to play with different incarnations of the characters against the common backdrop of canon, so I'm delighted that this piece worked for you.

We'll see about a follow-up... I quite like the idea, but it all depends on the muse!
