wow, I just wow. I didn't realize how much I wanted this until I read it, and then it filled this void in me. so beautifully written, too.

the "Good night, John," gave me such a quiet thrill.

Oh, thank you - what a lovely compliment!

Writing this one was a bit frustrating, in places... I'd been working on it for quite a while before finally getting it finished, so it's wonderful to know that you enjoyed it so much. <3

Perfect! We have to thank enkiduts then, have we? :) I liked Holmes' standing at the rail... drawing himself upright as quickly and cleanly as a window sliding shut. That's so... heart-breaking :) Showing a hint of his fragility hidden behind a mask. And Watson... too kind :) As always :) Thanks for sharing :) <3333

Oh, gorgeous. This is just lovely. That moment when Holmes says, "like drowning," made my heart clench. I love all Watson's thoughts about Holmes and the whole delicacy of the story is wonderful. Beautiful writing.

Thank you - I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

One can only imagine what Watson must have thought of Holmes during the early days of their friendship... he wouldn't be an easy person to share rooms with, let alone all the rest that followed ;)

You've done it again - so great! I have always loved that scene in the movie, just a hint of what's going on in Holmes' head, and I've often thought I wanted to write something about it. I never could, and now I don't have to, because this is just about perfect.

I particularly liked this line: to be so acutely attuned to glimpses and whispers in a world of clumsy creatures who shouted and waved.

Thank you! The scene at the Royale is a favorite of mine as well - that was the original starting point for this little piece (as you might have guessed!) and the rest just grew from there.

Hee! That's very kind of you... although I, for one, would be absolutely delighted to read your take on oversensitive!Holmes if the fancy ever strikes ;)

Thanks again for the lovely comment, and I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it. <3
