I know those stupid movies kick my ass... love is different and things really don't work out like that... if it was real life and not Nicholas Sparks I am pretty sure she would have ended up with rich boy and she would have been fine! I think that is why I liked Spanglish and Closer and Alfie so much... cause that is how it REALLY is!
Congrats on the case!
Step- sister? I am thinking hard but I don't remember!!
Uhm, Kylie Carver. She went to THS. Graduated in 99. I'm trying to think if you ever met her...I don't think so. She was always gone to college and such. So, who knows.
And to add another "realistic" movie or two to the list...rickysaccountJune 24 2005, 06:53:41 UTC
How about that "Black Book" and "In Good Company"? I thought those were a heckuva lot closer to a true "love story" than that Sparks claptrap (especially the latter! :). But I had been avoiding all three of the movies you mentioned (because I thought they'd be like The Notebook!) but I guess I'll have to check em out now... great suggestions! :o)
Hey, congratulations on the case! :)rickysaccountJune 24 2005, 06:50:33 UTC
But, I've gotta admit, I friggin *HATE* that movie, The Notebook! It was actually one of the things that precipitated the breakup with Holly (my ex) and, when I finally saw the movie, I really did hate it (granted, my perspective was a little jaundiced... but I still would've hated it). That girl seemed like such a selfish, lying, cheating slut... and I felt terrible for that poor Capt. Lon (or whatever his name was). And that main character guy (forgot his name) seems like SUCH a fucking sap! I think men just have a completely different interpretation of that movie from women... I mean, I believe in love that lasts forever but I also think it's possible to get that without lying, cheating, or otherwise being childish. Okay, nuff bitterness outta me... this was supposed to be a congratulatory post! :o)

You know, now that I think of it... he was a sap. I don't know any guys that would do what he did in this day and age.
I'm sorry that the movie contributed to the breakup. Did she expect you two to be like that? I know better than to end something good when I know I'll never have something like that. Its just wishful thinking on my part.
... Off on a different subject, did you get some more good pics of your friends beetle? I told alan about it. He's been waiting patiently to see pictures :)

Well, any girl that expects all that ... well, all I can say is she will learn, one way or the other... but that sucks!... but it isn't altogether true about men having different interpretations of that movie... at least not all of them! My friend Lamar actually told me that it was his new favorite movie EVER... that he cried... and yes he meant it and No he isn't a wuss or a sap, sooo... I guess it is all in the person! I mean the movie was good entertainment and I liked it for that but realistically speaking NO WAY!
