Pre-K headache

We're going to try for the actual school system one since it's free and it can also help get her into the school we want her to go to for kindergarten on up. Unlike most school systems that I'm used to, Clarke county lets you pick the school you want your child to go to. If you want to drive your ( Read more... )

You reminded me-

I've seen Chris a couple of times on campus. Does he have business around here?

Chris has been working for UGA since December 2006. He's in EITS in the basement dungeon of Boyd. He used to work with OASIS making sure the programs that let people graduate stay up, but he got promoted to dealing with insurance and benefits through HR or something.

He almost never leaves the office unless he needs a break from staring at the computer and he takes the bus in at about 8am and usually takes it home just before 5pm.

I went there K-2, actually. It wasn't that bad then, but I think it's gotten worse in the intervening decade and a half. All of the teachers I had that were really good have retired, and I have no idea what their current staff is like.

That said, the education system in Clarke County is by no means stellar. Spectacular screwups and logic-defying moves by the BoE abound; be prepared to deal with it. If you really want some advice, I could put you in touch with my mother, who's a 15-year veteran of dealing with that particular system (more if you count all the overlap of my brothers and I separately).

Chase is actually better than Oglethorpe, but pretty much dead even with Alps. Hopefully Barrow will work, and if that fails, Timothy. A lot of people apparently miss this early pre-reg sign up for pre-k and this is the best chance to get the school you want. After March 1 it's first come first serve.

The FUN was getting the damn vaccine stuff...which will result in two posts in a row!
