Don't lose it! Not that I know very much about your life, but I do know (from a friend who's worked with the crazy geochem equipment) that spending a whole f**kton of time getting those puppies up and running is an accomplishment in itself. I know that doesn't help with publications, but it is something to be proud of when it finally happens ( ... )

If you're good at research, but don't produce a lot of original ideas (hey, your words, not mine!), you COULD become a specialist in one tiny little part of a field and whore yourself out as a co-PI on grant proposals. We have a number of people who do that, and they seem to do well because they end up on a billion grants and are coauthors all the time. Just a thought ( ... )

Thanks for all the links! I will check them out tomorrow (when I should be doing something else). Yes I fully admit that original research ideas are hard for me to come up with, but this possibly has to do with never feeling like I know enough about what I am doing ( ... )
