Can you find any other dancers in the area who have worked with them before, and ask them?

Go for it. As long as they know that everyone knows where you are, I wouldn't worry. It's a great opportunity to really get out there and dance. You're a beautiful dancer, let other people appreciate all the work you've put in.

I get kind of nervous when I go to shoot a wedding somewhere out in the middle of the boonies all by myself. I just always make sure my parents and friends know exactly where I am and what time I am supposed to be done. I also keep in touch by phone when I get there and when I am done. This helps me feel a little safer. I totally know what you mean, though. This does sound like a great opportunity for you. Have fun if you end up going!! :)

I would insist on several references from them. Its perfectly acceptable, and suggested practice, to never go alone to a gig with and unknown customer. If you can't get someone you trust to vouch for them, Rob should go and be Amazing Veil Valet. It's probably not a shady deal, but its a good habit and it says something about your professionalism as a dancer when you have requirements that concern your wellbeing that are absolutely not up for discussion.

Wow those sentances sucked, but I'm sure you get the point. Alrighty?
